Y yo bailando pegao
Con una chica en Bilbao

Yessss!
First try, first successful booking!
Bilbao was our choice for a three day break. Why? Interesting city we have not been before (but many friends recommended Bilbao to us!), great food, good chance of getting a Wizz All You Can Fly ticket. And we are spain fans anyway, so what shall go wrong!
Four hours after the booking window opened, 68 hours before take-off, the two of us were able to get two tickets to Bilbao, the marvelous basque city in the north of Spain!
Our blog companion dog Fina (you know her from last week and no, we do not leave her alone at the airport!) in the picture is watching the Guggenheim Museum and the “Salbe Zubia” bridge, which we will see in three days in real.
Booking was easy, although I somehow managed to create a double booking: did I push the button twice because I was so excited? Was Wizz Air so excited that they booked me twice on the same flight? Do I need two seats because I have overweight? (just kidding 😉 I will not find out, but, hopefully Wizz Air´s customer service who I contacted immediately can remove the second booking to avoid a “no show” on my side (yes, I can only appear once in the plane!). With the just € 9,99 booking fee each of us saved € 50,- compared to the cheapest regular ticket available at the time of booking (€ 59,99).
Early bird catches the worm!
We will have to get early out of bed, as the flight leaves Vienna at 6:10 on Sunday morning. Of course we checked the availability of hotels and the hotel prices before. Bilbao is currently reasonable and we booked a NH Hotel, one of our preferred chains as we also enjoy Platinum status there.
Weather forecast was not perfect but not too bad either, so we are looking forward to great three days in Bilbao. Our light duvet jackets which we take with us on every trip, will protect us from cold air in the plane as well as from rain or cool weather in Bilbao and do not strain the light luggage (= one small rucksack) we are allowed to carry along!
Our program in Bilbao?
Don´t know yet. We did some quick research and found interesting tipps at www.premiumeurope.com . But we also like to ask locals for advice. Clearly the Old Town, the Guggenheim Museum, the Zubia Bridge, a trip with the cablecar up the Artxanda and a boat tour on the river are things we need to do. But it would also be nice to make an excursion to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, the famous island-rock.
And no doubt we will indulge in Basque food!
How we may come back, we think about later – the booking window for our return flight opens only on our first day in Bilbao. We will get a ticket home? Stay tuned and read next week more about our trip to Bilbao.
PS: You have got a tipp for us? Drop us an email, we are greatful for any hints on that lovely city!
