WIZZ All You Can Fly: Our Firsthand Experience and Review

Flying through the air
Side by side we dip bend and climb
Flying through the air so free
Feel them left behind below us
Flying through the air
Mad old you and me we are going
At it just for kicks for kicks
You’ll see
That they’ll wish they were you
Right along here with me
You and me

Oliver Onions, “Flying Through the Air”

You likely landed here as either you heard about Wizzair´s “WIZZ All You Can Fly”-product or you maybe are one of their WIZZ All You Can Fly-customers.

Oh, sorry, we did not introduce ourselves yet.

“We” are Frequent Flyers, two end fifties, based in Vienna, Austria. Our adult kids live in London, we are self employed and we don´t have a pet to care for. That gives us a pretty flexible schedule! We love to travel and are quite experienced in booking complex routes and destinations by ourselves which certainly helps with WIZZ All You Can Fly.

Sounds like target customers for this new Wizzair product, doesn´t it?

That is exactly what we thought when that promotion mail came in. Should we buy WIZZ All You Can Fly or not? – As you can guess: as this blog exists, we joined the WIZZ All You Can Fly-program. Let us just briefly tell you how we came to the decision to join:

After receiving that email on Aug 14, we did two things right away:

  • We forwarded the Wizzair-promotion email to our children;
  • We clicked the link to WIZZ All You Can Fly.

What a disappointment! We landed on the WIZZ Multipass page. It sounded like a classical scam. So we wrote to our kids that they should forget about the program and wrote an email to Wizzair to complain. Fortunately, to a noreply email-adress. Fortunately, because when we retried a few hours later, the WIZZ All You Can Fly page was online (strange that no one there checked before…).

What we read sounded good although it was unclear if there are traps in that product. Anyway, € 499,- per person, roundabout € 1.000,- for the two of us was an amount we decided to risk. Either in a good product or in a learning curve.

On the same afternoon we bought our two WIZZ All You Can Fly-passes.

Is WIZZ All You Can Fly a good product? We don´t know yet. Our first booking will likely be in October. Till then, we will keep you informed about things to watch out when using All You Can Fly and provide useful information around the product, talk about how the passenger load factor, seasons and destinations influence the ticket availability. We shed a light on entry restrictions/barriers in individual destinations (eg. how to deal with the requirement of presenting a return ticket to Maldives authorities when you don´t have one!) and we will also shed a light on environmental issues.

WIZZ All You Can Fly received quite some criticism in the press (read about it in the next blog entry). What´s behind that? Read about or first assessment of WIZZ All You Can Fly next week!
